Jessica Ann Phillips and Joel James Stampfl, both of Chicago, were married on June 21, 2009, at Valparaiso Chapel at Valparaiso University in Indiana. Rev. Cunningham officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony for the daughter of Ed and Joanne Phillips of Valparaiso and the son of John and Kathleen Stampfl of Kenosha.

Stephanie Phillips was the maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Julia Stampfl and Anna Stampfl.

Aaron Stampfl was the best man. Alex Stampfl was the groomsman. Both are brothers of the groom.

A reception was held at the Strongbow Inn in Valparaiso.

The bride graduated from Hobart High School in Indiana and Valparaiso University, receiving a B.A. in art and photography. She works as a freelance photo stylist.

The groom graduated from Christian Life High School, Valparaiso University and DePaul University in Chicago, receiving a master's degree in elementary education. Joel works with autistic adults. He is a tutor and substitute teacher for Chicago Public Schools.

The couple took a wedding trip to Door County, Wis.

They reside in Chicago.
