Alison Evans and Jered Tillman
May 4, 2013
Morriston Baptist Church, Morriston, Fla.

GENERAL
Couple’s Name:
Alison Evans and Jered Tillman
Wedding Date: May 4, 2013
Wedding Location: Morriston Baptist Church, Morriston, Fla.

ABOUT THE COUPLE
How they met: They met at Newnan’s Lake, just outside of Gainesville, Fla., at an environmental cleanup in October 2011. The couple chatted in the pouring rain as they picked up garbage and learned of each others’ love of Star Wars and Van Halen.
How he proposed: On July 4, 2012, Jered had a box of sparklers and secretly attached a diamond ring to the last sparkler, which he concealed in the palm of his hand. Once the last sparkler burned down, he revealed the ring, looked her in the eyes and proposed. Just after Alison accepted, they sealed the occasion with a kiss, just in time for the start of the fireworks show, fulfilling her desire for a sparkling ring and the cliche of fireworks exploding after a kiss.
Bride’s occupation: Senior information specialist
Groom’s occupation: Product services manager

THE CEREMONY
The ceremony:
A traditional ceremony that incorporated their love of “Star Wars” and the colors of the Air Force, which were represented in the wedding party. After the exchange of vows, the officiant used a light saber to dub them husband and wife. Tying in a military tradition and the Star Wars theme, the groomsmen drew out light sabers to form an arch for the couple to pass under while the flutist played music from the “Star Wars” scene at the Mos Eisley Cantina.
The gown: A gown with matching veil and sash was a perfect fit; “R2-D2” shoes were handcrafted by the bride.
The bouquet: The bouquets and corsages were created by the bride and her mother.
The theme: “Star Wars” with a small tie-in of the groom’s military service in the U.S. Air Force.

Maid of honor:
Danielle Hancock

What made the day unique: The “Star Wars” influence, the subtle Air Force references, and a photo shoot with the wedding party that incorporated the groom’s diving background.
Most touching moment of the day: The groom serenaded his new bride with “You Are The Woman” by Firefall, while his best man played acoustic guitar.
